When the disciples saw this (Mary anointing Jesus’s feet), they were indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked. “This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.” Matthew 26:8-9

What a beautiful proof of love to Christ that the disciples are finding fault in. If Mary waited for the advice of these disciples, she would probably never have sold or poured out the perfume. Likewise, when the Lord accepts our service that overflows from the purest motives of a loving heart, we must not be discouraged of other disciples’ potential disapproval. She shows us a heart that thought nothing was too good for our Lord and the best of the best must be given to the dear feet soon to be nailed to the cross. She did something we cannot do because Jesus is not here in person. But we can give the best of the best to his children around us and He will accept them as though it is done to Himself. May she have endless imitators who loves our Lord as intensely and obeys the holy impulse within us as fully until Jesus comes again.
